He was predeceased by his parents Leslie and Georgina, brothers Archie , Guy Welsh and father-in-law Frank Frizell. He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews and friends. Robert left Georgia at the age of 28 after attending Augusta Community college graduating as a heavy equipment mechanic. He also worked as a chauffeur, and in his spare time he love outdoor sports. He passed peacefully in the presence of his family at Bürgerhospital on December 12, 2022.

Gilbert had a large extended family, brothers, Norman , Wilburt , Tom , sisters, Valerie , Donna , Rosanne Rogers and sister-in-law Diane Welsh. Mother-in-law Dorothy Frizell, brother-in-law John Frizell and sister-in-law Mary Horne.
